St Marks Chapel was filled with the cheerful chatter of 40 women all gathered for the women’s dinner, despite cold weather and a very busy ‘Armidale’ weekend.
The evening began at about seven with some light finger food and casual
chatting amongst the women, whilst in the kitchen approximately ten men
were working very hard at preparing the evening meal.
The men had arrived early dressed in their best, prepared to make meals,
wait on tables and even keen to do the big wash up at the end of the evening.
The menu included such things as frittata, chicken filo’s, lasagne,
fantastic salads (prepared earlier by the lovely ladies at St Marks Friday
Bible study group) cakes and fruit salad, tropical punch, tea and coffee.
Elizabeth Parker, who is involved in ministry with her husband Darrell
at the Anglican Church in Tenterfield, spoke about her life and passages
from John.
The main theme of Elizabeth’s talk was “Where else have we
to go?”
Elizabeth had been brought up in a Christian family and explained that
despite this and after many different experiences that she had not been
in a real relationship with God until she was a young adult.
Elizabeth highlighted different sections of John that had convinced her
that Jesus is the only way to go but the most important one of all is John
6:68 (NIV) “Simon Peter answered him,”Lord,
to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
