On Sunday, 2nd March, The annual Chapel Cricket challenge took place with UNE church taking on a combined AM and Sat@6 team.
Both sides were heavily littered with superstars, particularly AM church with the inclusion of Richard Newton, who rocked up dressed entirely in representatitve cricket clothing. (anybody missing any?).
UNE church won the toss and elected to field first. The oldies got off to a strong start with the bat, with Tim Hadfield belting several boundaries in the first couple of overs. However the middle order let them down with the only other notable score from traitor Sam Trotman.
With an average total to defend, the oldies needed a strong start in the field, which was provided for them by some sharp bowling from Newton and Nathan Smith. However, John Martin(49) and Caleb Dobos(37) stood up for UNE church with steller batting performances. From there it was all one sided as UNEchurch gradually amassed the allcomers total.
A great day was had by all with highlights including Dan Teitzel’s sunburn, Martin Trotman’s umpiring and Steph Hunt’s fielding!
