Around 60 ladies attended the ‘Café San Marco Capella’ (St Marks Chapel) on Friday the 11th May 2007 for the Women’s Dinner. Chapel was transformed with fairy lights, a few candles (that ended up melting all over the tables…hmmm...seemed like a good idea at the time….) and some lovely table decorations to make the atmosphere very friendly and comfortable – maybe even a little like a restaurant.
A highlight for the women, were the fifteen men dressed in black and white who served the meals (with big smiley faces). It seems that it always proves successful when the chapel men wait upon the chapel women! There was plenty of food (thanks to the caterers from Tamworth) with even enough for the boys in the kitchen!
Our speaker, Karen Eastment , (the current chaplain at NEGS) challenged us to think about where God fits into our lives and encouraged us to remember that knowing God helps us to manage the highs and lows that we experience in life.
Overall the night was a great success. The feedback sheets were very positive – the ladies enjoyed the food, the location and the talk and there were even ten ladies who offered to help out with organizing another one next year!
A very big thank you to all the men who gave up their evenings to come and serve food, wash dishes and clean up chapel for us. Also a big thank you to the ladies who did all the organizing to make everything run so smoothly particularly Linden and Anna.
